WordPress plugin
Dynamic QR Codes by QR Top is our official plugin, free and published in the wordpress.org directory. It generates QR codes for any post or page right from the editor — static ones with no account needed, or dynamic ones with analytics by connecting your free QR Top account.
Installation (1 minute)
- In your WordPress: Plugins → Add New → search “Dynamic QR Codes by QR Top” → Install and Activate.
- Or download it from the official directory: wordpress.org/plugins/dynamic-qr-codes-by-qr-top
It already works without an account: the plugin generates static QRs of any post's permalink, drawn locally. For the good stuff — dynamic QRs that don't break and do measure — connect your account.
Connecting your QR Top account
- Create your free account at qr-top.com (5 dynamic QRs forever, no card).
- At qr-top.com: Settings → API → create an API key.
- In WordPress: QR Top → Settings → paste the key and save.
What it does
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| QR per post/page | One click in the editor meta box; choose static or dynamic |
| Permalink sync | If the post URL changes, the dynamic QR updates itself — printed copies keep working |
| Brand design | The QR renders with the colors and logo saved in your QR Top account |
| [qrtop] shortcode | Insert the QR anywhere in your content; [qrtop static="URL"] for static codes of any URL |
| “All QRs” screen | Every post with a QR, its type and scans, with per-row actions |
| Analytics | Every scan (country, device, time) in your QR Top dashboard |
Static vs dynamic, honestly
Static burns the URL in: free, no account, but if the permalink changes the printed QR dies and measures nothing. Dynamic goes through your QR Top short link: editable forever, with analytics, protected by our anti-hostage guarantee. The plugin offers both and explains the trade-off before you choose — no traps.
